So, config is: Fibre modem with wired connection to Technicolour Wireless Router.
#Technicolor modem setup Pc
My main PC is over the other side of the room and for various boring reasons it wasn't possible to set the router up on that side of the room and so I was instead just going to link to it with a Wireless Access Point but I cannot get it working properly.

If that's the case then just leave out the encaps=vcmux from the atm ifconfig commandįirst post here so be gentle with me! One of the support guys just pointed me towards this post as a possible fix for something I'm trying to do but I'm struggling to get my head round how to apply this to my particular situation. It will be interesting to hear if that works.Įdit: just looked a little further at the template file for the TG585 here and I'm not sure the Encapsulation needs changing. I would assume that if it all goes horribly wrong then a factory reset ought to put it back to square one. The first 5 commands clear any existing default configuration and then subsequent ones set up the new Bridged PPPoE connection. I've modified the commands from those shown in the example to reflect a VPI/VCI of 0/38 and an Encapsulation of VCMUX as required for PlusNet.Ītm phonebook add name=BrPPPoE_ph addr=0.38Ītm ifconfig intf=BrPPPoE_atm dest=BrPPPoE_ph encaps=vcmux ulp=macĮth bridge ifconfig intf=BrPPPoE_br dest=BrPPPoE_atm So I believe you need to issue the following commands using the CLI. It's actually pretty good at explaining the internal logical connections inside the router and how to use the CLI to produce different From what I can see from that document you need the Bridged PPPoE configuration as described in Chapter 4. If I start getting problems, I might then have to go to Bridge Mode on the TG587n.Which describes how to use the Speedtouch CLI to produce various none default configurations. I am a "if it is not broken, don't fix it" sort of bloke so I might just leave everything as it is. I also have an AirPort Express connected wirelessly to the AE network (just for playing iTunes to my sound system) and that is being reported by AirPort Utility as having an "excellent" connection.Īll websites are loading well and interactive featutes (I assume you meaning internet banking, shopping, PayPal and that sort of stuff) are not giving any problems. Another iMac running the old AirPort Utility version 5.6.1 shows "This AirPort Extreme is already set up and not reporting any problems." AirPort Utility Version 6.3.2 shows a green Double NAT bullet advice for the AirPort Extreme, but not as an error warning. Following advice I read on a forum some time ago (I can't remember the reason why) I haven't updated my AirPort Extreme firmware and are still running version 7.6.1. I have never received a double NAT error. Thanks for your reply and the helpful advice you have given. that is very useful as then you can access the bridged modem by wireless to discover sync and line info. note also you can still access the modem by its wireless. When you click start it will load the new bridge configuration into the modem and it will then work as bridged. but so you can see what the screens looks like. Click next and choose the bridge from the list of templates.
Open Technicolor gateway (or Thomson gateway on earlier models).Ģ. Press enter and the router gui will open. but Thomson / Technnicolor normally use 192.168.1.254 so type either of those addresses into your browser address bar.
Open the modem interface in your browser. but here is the exact screenshots to do it.ġ. IMHO it is one of the easiest models on the market to bridge. How difficult is setting the Thomson / Technicolor to bridge. A modem bought in the Telstra shop will not. A registered modem will automatically configure itself. How this works depends on if the modem is registered to you or you bought it retail. Early on in the setup procedure the modem turned itself off a few times with the error message "concentrator not reachable", so I followed a suggestion on the Telstra Crowdsupport forum and did a factory reset.
